Arwen and The Lord of the Rings
Last year I started reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I have always loved the movies but for some reason never read the books. Right now I'm finishing up The Return of the King and I love it and was inspired to make a painting of Arwen. This was created using gouache on watercolor paper. The tree in the foreground was painted on another piece of paper and glued on the final painting. It actually ended up being a happy accident; in the painting I originally started, when I got to Arwen's face, I worked it over too much and was so unhappy with it but I really liked the way the tree turned out so I cut it out with a knife and here is the end result! If you're interested, Arwen is for sale in my Etsy shop, www.jennyharrisart.etsy.com
Thanks for looking!

Crane Wife
After pretty much only making linocuts for the last ten years or so, I've decided to broaden my horizons and try my hand at painting. This is the first painting I completed. I love The Decemberists and for the last couple of months, I've been listening to them compulsively and almost exclusively. Crane Wife is full of so much wonderful imagery, I couldn't help but be inspired by it. I just listed the painting in my Etsy shop if you care to have a look: www.jennyharrisart.etsy.com
